Star Wars Jedi: Survivor - Stinger Mantis Exterior

For Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, I had the unique privilege of tackling the hero ship of the game, the Stinger Mantis. The job was split up into two tasks, the exterior which was done by me and the interior which was arted by Tim Wallace and lit by Jen Monache. I was responsible for all art related elements of the exterior from modeling to final execution and texturing.

The goal for this task was to make it feel like 5 years have passed and Cal really couldn't give a care about appearances. He's made a few hot exits while out on Jedi business since Greez gave the ship to him and it shows. It provided a unique opportunity to add more detail by removing panels and exposing guts. To basically take it from what felt like a sleek yacht in the first game and push it into the more Millennium Falcon range with a lot more kitbash and greebles.

The ship was rebuilt from the ground up with new parallax occlusion mapping tech and was given a much higher poly count now that we were running on new console hardware. We also rebuilt and redid the way we apply materials on to the ship allowing for a bit more flexibility while also reducing costs.

None of this would of been possible without the wonderful Sam Knudson who is a fantastic Tech Artist. He's responsible for POMs and the Material Shader we used for these vehicles!
